The best advent calendars – for adults

Edinburgh Gin – available at John Lewis. For £100 you can have a beautiful G&T (or just a G) every night in December.

The Pip Stop Gin calendar is only slightly cheaper at £99 but more easily available given that JL have already sold out of theirs and are awaiting more stock.

Also available and beautifully presented is this 12 Gins of Christmas. Ok so it’s not an advent calendar, but look at it – worth buying yourself a little gift for whilst you are present wrapping? I think so!


This Craft Ale beauty from Beerhawk is on offer now for £65 if you pre-order and comes with not only 24 ales but a £10 voucher too!

Groupon have an advent calendar full of beer for Just £49.99 but as with everything on Groupon, this is only while stocks last.

Or this rather magnificent personalised beer tree calendar from Not On The High Street, which will set you back £95 but you can co-ordinate it with your decor!



Speaking of Not On The High Street – they have this beauty of an adult only chocolate advent calendar but Cocoapod. It says it’s for sharing but ….. I doubt it. £85 for an extra large chocolate calendar – it’s deffo not for sharing.



Spirits – this little beauty of gin, vodka and liqueurs comes from Chase’s Distillery. It may be on the pricey side at £112 but it is a thing of beauty even before the doors are opened.


Prosecco you say? £125 will get you this little box of tricks from The Pipstop. Fizz every night in December. Or this Virgin Wines box of delights – including champagne, a snip in comparison at £79.99 and available to pre-order now.

Or nab yourself an Aldi bargain – wines and fizz for £49.99 – due to be released 1st Nov, I reckon there will be queues around the block for this one!


Looking for something less alcoholic? Asda’s advent calendar full of cheese is a right bargain at less than a tenner – the perfect accompaniment to a calendar full of wine!



The annual M&S make-up and beauty calendar is available from 9th Nov and is sure to sell out fast. There is no pre-order, there is no waiting list.


With the contents valuing over £250, all you have to do is spend £35 on clothing and add it to your trolley for £35. It looks amazing – no wonder it says ‘a few of my favourite things….’

The John Lewis Beauty Calendar with contents worth £300 comes in at the more expensive price of £149.99 – available now, it looks tremendous – bet you can’t wait til December to open a door! Perhaps more affordable is this gorgeous JL tealight calendar at £25. Or their artisan chocolate calendar of the same price.


Boots are taking sign ups now for their annual No7 beauty calendar. Signs ups will gain you notification of when it is available – contents worth £169.99 but cost is just £40. This one is a beauty every year and well worth the sign up to be first in line find out more. Also at Boots for Just £24.99 and part of their 3 for 2 Christmas gifts offer, is the Yankee Candle calendar.
